2004 has been a terrific year for CYCA in recruiting new members. I’d like to thank those of you who have sponsored new members, especially Mike Haines who (at most recent count) brought in five new members. Its great to see our new members participating at rendezvous and winning awards in the Judging. Congratulations to all!

Please join me in welcoming new members Larry and Lane Page, and their 18’ MFG Utility Runabout built in 1956. Larry and Lane live in Columbia MD and were sponsored (of course) by Mike Haines.

Many of you will remember “Hermione” then owned by the Ragsdales from past membership in the Club. She is a beautiful 1925 Elco 57’ Motor Yacht currently owned by new member Richard Thomas. Capt. Thomas was sponsored for membership by P/C Mike McKenney. We look forward to seeing “Hermione” again flying that familiar CYCA burgee on her bow.

Howard and Ginny Knott have joined us as Associate Members. Their “Indy Gal” is a 1985 Marine Trader 44. Howard and Ginny have just set out from Piney Narrows on a winter voyage south that should certainly qualify them for the Voyager Award in their first year of CYCA membership! The Knotts were sponsored by Capt. Reid Cottrell.

The enthusiasm of our members for their Classic Yachts is the best promotion that the Club has for encouraging new membership. Our activity and visibility helps all of us network with potential candidates for CYCA membership.

V/C Patrick Dunlap will gladly supply all of the new membership applications that you may need for 2005! I hope that you will make his time as Chairman of the Membership Committee as interesting and productive as you have made mine.
