Everybodys A Winner! By Vice Commodore Patrick Dunlap |
I think by anyones measure, we have to consider CYCAs 2004 Judging Event one of the best in our Clubs history! We had just about everything going for us in Rock Hall. First, we enjoyed a terrific venue in Rock Hall ensuring lots of exposure for our Club and our vessels to the visiting public. Second, we had an outstanding level of participation with some 17 vessels competing this year, due in large part to the strong encouragement from Commodore Judy Willingham. Third, we lucked out with beautiful weather. Thank you, God. And last -- but most importantly every vessel entered in this years Judging Event won an award! (A list of award winners follows this article.) Now this last accomplishment was the result of two factors. First, a membership committed to keeping their boats in good running order and outstanding appearance, despite the hard work and big bucks it often takes to make it happen. And secondly, a Judging Panel composed of three knowledgeable marine professionals who know a good-looking classic boat when they see one. Or, in this case, when they see 17 of them! Many thanks to all 17 members who chose to participate in our 2004 Judging Rendezvous. And, congratulations to all of this years award recipients who earned the recognition they and their vessels received! It was my privilege to serve as Rear Commodore this year and bask in the reflected glow of so many members fun and happiness! I look forward to working with our new Commodore, Eric Horst, and with the Rear Commodore for 2005, Jim Gartley, as well as Fleet Captain Ed Rosenthal, to make next years Judging as successful and as much fun! Feel free to contact me if you need membership applications or have questions of any kind.
