Based on the results of a member survey and the recommendations of a long range planning committee, the CYCA Board of Directors decided to take a break from the traditional Annual Judging event in lieu of a different format aimed at encouraging greater participation by members and reducing some of the stress of a more formal competition.
The new format to be tested over a three year period (2008—2010) prior to any formal consideration of permanently altering the traditional Judging event is a Festival of Classic and Antique boats. The Festival includes having all attending boats “on display” and open to the public, at the member’s discretion. Each participating boat will be awarded an attractive plaque commemorating the attendance at the Festival. Club members will also vote and select a Members’ Choice award in each of six categories:
Under 40ft - wood Under 40ft - non-wood
Over 40ft - wood Over 40ft - non-wood
Runabouts/Launches Sailboats
There is to be an opportunity during the rendezvous for members to participate in a Fleet Review which involves experts in restoration, mechanical systems and finishes being available to inspect boats, answer questions and offer free advice and recommendations helpful in achieving the perfect boat.
